Hearing Tests

At Bowes Hearing Care, we provide a comprehensive, professional hearing assessment for you.

The first step is to gather as much information about your hearing health, current and historical, and how you, and others around you, perceive your hearing.

The procedure for the hearing test is then clearly explained and you are shown what the result of a hearing test would be for someone without hearing issues. This gives an easy point of comparison to your own hearing results.

Your hearing test outcome is shown on a graph called an audiogram. A clear explanation is given of the results and why you may be having difficulty with your hearing.

If it has been established that you have a hearing problem, and that hearing aids would be beneficial, the next step is to demonstrate how hearing aids can help.

Listening to conversation in background noise and in different environments, is demonstrated, whilst your hearing is aided, so you can assess any improvement and make an informed decision if you choose to go ahead and purchase hearing aids.

Home Visits

Bowes Hearing Care provides a home visit service in select areas for hearing tests, hearing aid service and ear wax removal.

Home visits are available covering the Fyvie, Ellon, Peterhead, Mintlaw and Fraserburgh areas. We provide this home visit service to Aberdeen, Banchory and Inverurie for housebound patients.

For those who have purchased hearing aids from Bowes Hearing Care our wax removal service is free of charge.

There is no charge for a home visit hearing assessment.

Bowes Hearing After Care

Here at Bowes Hearing Care, we are very proud of our excellent after care service.

At the hearing aid fitting, the aids are set up and fitted for comfort and easy listening.

We have found initially reducing the level of high pitch sounds slightly, for most new hearing aid users, can really help with them becoming used to their corrected hearing easier.

Fitting and maintenance of the hearing aids are explained and demonstrated.

It is usual to have a follow up appointment two weeks after fitting, where we go over fitting, maintenance and ongoing care of your aids once more. At this appointment we would normally adjust the hearing aids to the correct prescription for your hearing loss and help connect any devices, such as phone, ipads etc.

For ongoing maintenance, if you wear hearing aids purchased from us, then future wax filters, domes and wax removal treatments are free.

We like to reassess your hearing every 12 to 18 months and if there are any changes to your hearing, we make necessary adjustments to your hearing aids to keep them working at their best.
