Ear Cleaning Services

At Bowes Hearing Care, we use micro-suction as our primary way of gently removing ear wax. However if you have deep ear wax or wax coating your eardrum then we can use irrigation (syringing), this will depend on your medical history in relation to your ears.

Your appointment should take no longer than 30 minutes.

For those who have purchased hearing aids from Bowes Hearing Care our wax removal service is free of charge.

We charge £20 per ear for ear wax removal. There is a minimum charge of £20 for the appointment if there is no ear wax or we are unable to remove it.

Before Your Appointment

Before attending your appointment we recommend using ear oil drops from the pharmacy for several days to soften any wax.

We have found, for best results, tip your head to the side and apply the correct amount of oil as directed on the packaging and wait about 10 minutes. Repeat with the other ear if necessary.

Try not to go to bed with the oil in your ears or block the ear canal with cotton wool or tissue as this often makes the wax blockage worse.

If you wear hearing aids, use the oil on an evening after removing your aids and dry your ears the next morning before reinserting your aids.

Home Visits

Bowes Hearing Care provides a home visit service in select areas for ear wax removal, hearing tests and hearing aid service.

Home visits are available covering the Fyvie, Ellon, Peterhead, Mintlaw and Fraserburgh areas. We provide this home visit service to Aberdeen, Banchory and Inverurie for housebound patients.

For those who have purchased hearing aids from Bowes Hearing Care our home visit wax removal service is free of charge.
